History

 

My name is Marco Wendel.

I play guitar and piano since I was 12 years old and I am concerned with sound engineering. When I was 16 I got my first electric guitar, my father, who was also a music enthusiast, built a small recording studio for me and I founded my first band. After graduating from high school and training as an electronics technician with a focus on telecommunications and radio technology, I became a professional musician and played in several bands (see below).

My equipment is always designed in a way that I can call up as many sounds as possible with as small technology as possible. At some point the first modelers hit the market – perfect for me. The first Pod, Pod 2, the XT, a couple of Digitechs and then the Pod X3 combined with a TC G-Force. In the studio and on the front PA it always sounded great, but not on stage.

So I was looking for the right amplification for my equipment. But it didn’t seem to exist. So the idea grew up to build an amplifier that would meet my requirements and brings the entire frequency spectrum linear and loud to the stage. It should be able to amplify electric guitar as well as acoustic guitar.

At the beginning of 2008 I got all the materials, locked myself in my workshop for 3 weeks and built my first amp. Of course, the child also had to get a name. And because it was covered with tolex in my favorite color blue, the name was clear: „Blue“ … The beginning of „BlueAmps“.

 

Now it’s 2020 and we can look back on more than 11 years of BlueAmps in which a lot has happened. We now deliver amps and boxes in all sizes and for all requirements in 19 countries around the world. We operate a cooperation with RITTERAMPS called KPA-SOLUTIONS, which i.a. the world’s only retrofit power amplifier for the Kemper KPA, the „Camplifier“ brought on the market in a number of versions.

In 2017, our BlueAmps „Spark“ won the large FRFR comparison test at BONEDO with 5/5 stars. Tester Thomas Dill uses the BlueAmps „Beast 212“ in his Kemper workshops, with which he was a guest at the „Guitar Summit“ in Mannheim. The „Beast 212“ achieved full points in the BONEDO test at the beginning of 2018 and the „Mimic 212“ also received 5 out of 5 stars in 2019 at BONEDO.

Even after more than 11 years, we are still excited about the topic of “amplification for modelers” every day. We continue to see it as our task to find the best amplification for each customer.
